Local Remodeler Wins National Award

Timothy Lawrence of Blue Ridge Home Improvement.^

Blue Ridge Home Improvement, Inc. in Blacksburg has been named the April 2010 Remodeler of the Month by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers.

BRHI was selected through a judging process of NAHB Remodelers leadership and staff.

Timothy A. Lawrence, president and remodeling consultant for Blue Ridge Home Improvement, started his business over 30 years ago as a small home repair and maintenance contractor. Lawrence says that from the very beginning, he operated his business upon the principles of honesty, trust, reliability, quality workmanship and communication. “These principles are the basis of good human relationships, both in business and in life,” Lawrence says, “and are the reasons behind BRHI's 30 years of success.”

Lawrence says he has learned to combine those traditional principles with new innovation to grow with the industry: “The use of quality, innovative products, properly installed by trained, caring, professional craftspeople, coupled with sound design, will serve as a catalyst for future success in a changing economy. Likewise, new partnerships with the Virginia Building & Code Officials Association (VBCOA) and occupational therapists will open new areas of service for our clients.”

BRHI has made scholarship donations for high school seniors entering the construction industry and has monthly meetings and staff volunteerism at events like the annual Home Expo.

Lawrence has served on the Board of Directors for the past 10 years, and is chairman for the finance and Home Expo committees.

Lawrence collaborates with national remodelers to share best practices, and attends industry conferences on new trends and products.
